An Evening of Emerging Wines

Hello there tapas lovers,

This December saw us getting into the festive spirit by hosting a series of events – our Evenings of Emerging Wines – in three of our top restaurants across the UK. A host of wine lovers from Leeds, Cardiff and Newbury attended the events to enjoy tasting selected wines from our Rising Stars menu and learn all about what food works well with which tipple.

On the menu was a selection of white wines, red wines and sherries, which were paired with an array of different foods in order to bring out the very best flavours from our Rising Stars.

The white wines went down a storm at each of the events, but the star of the show was the Paco & Lola, a contemporary and crisp Albariño that has proved popular with celebrities at VIP events such as Wimbledon! We paired this classy number with calamari to complement the refreshing citrus flavours of the wine.

The red wines also proved popular, the biggest hit being the Freixenet Mia, a sweet red wine. To complement the fruity cherry flavour of this red we paired it with succulent salsa chicken wings and our spicy meatballs!

Finally the sherries! At first many of our guests were unsure about tasting the sherry, we think memories of Christmas cake or their Grandma drinking a glass on Christmas Day may have surfaced! However, once our guests had sampled what our sherries had to offer they became extremely popular, especially as our sweetest sherry was paired with ice cream!
