Paella Chef of The Year 2012
Hi there tapas lovers,
We recently hosted the final of our 2012 Paella Chef of the Year competition, which celebrated the skill and expertise of our notorious paella chefs. Paella gurus from La Tasca restaurants all over the country entered the competition in the hope they could be crowned with this prestigious accolade. The competition was tough; there were some interesting paellas created but there could only ever be one winner…..
Callum and his winning Paella… mmmmm!
Callum qualified for the national final after winning the regional heat where he pitted it out against other La Tasca chefs from the North East. After a paella showdown full of passion and prawns, it was Callum who walked away victorious.
In the final that took place in Windsor, Callum faced competition against another four chefs from across our national estate who, similarly to Callum, had won their regional heat.
Callum created a fantastic paella del bosque (paella of the forest), an authentic twist on the traditional paella with duck wings and apricot puree, which was clearly a hit with the judges during the final.
Callum commented: “I’m passionate about Spanish food and the authentic paella recipe we use at La Tasca offers a true taste of Spain.”
Antony Bennett, La Tasca’s executive head chef said: “ It really was fantastic to see how passionate our chefs are about Spanish food . The competition was tough and all chefs did a fantastic job and created some tasty paellas. A huge congratulations to our winner Paella Chef of the Year Callum Godfrey.”
Congratulations to Alan from Bournemouth, Roland from Kingston, Ahmed from Nottingham and Agnieszka from Oxford.
