Celebrating International #SherryWeek
The rich history of Jerez
Quietly situated in sunny southern Spain, the Andalusian city of Jerez de la Frontera presents a truly unique identity steeped in authentic Spanish tradition. Alongside Andalusian cuisine and equestrian art, the city prides itself on its local heritage, with two particularly redeeming attributes, flamenco and sherry wine.
While Jerez quite frankly means sherry in Spanish, the fittingly named city was awarded the title of ‘Europe’s Wine City’ in 2014. The famous sherry wineries of Jerez, called bodegas, are part at the so-called ‘Sherry Triangle’ in the west of the city. Sanlucar de Barrameda, where manzanilla sherry is made, and El Puerto de Santa Maria complete the famous triangle on the Spanish coast.
Celebrate with us
With the launch of our Autumn Winter Menu last month, we’ve introduced the ultimate Jerez-inspired sharing board so you can take your taste buds on a tantalising trip around the Spanish coast. Enjoy three of our fabulous sherries, starting with a dry, crips & savoury Manzanilla that pairs perfectly with Gordal Olives. The board also includes our Amontillado & Oloroso sherries – both enriched with a full, dry & biscuity flavour that goes hand in hand with our Salchicón Iberico & Manchego cheese pinchos.
Throughout #SherryWeek we’ll be celebrating right here at La Tasca, so join us for our new Sherry & Pinchos board and sample some of our delicious Tapas, inspired by the famous city of Jerez. Click here for a quick and easy booking or view our locations to find your nearest fiesta!
